We have found land deeds for James T. Cooper in Tazewell, Claiborne
Cpounty Courthouse. We have also found Census records showing that
he lived in Cumberland Gap, Where his son James Brownlow Cooper was
born. James T. Cooper brouhgt his family to Utah/Idaho sometime in
the 1880's. The family story goes that he returned to Claiborne
County to help somemore of the Mormons come west, but was never heard
from again. Some say he was lynched by mobs, others have other
stories. The fact is no one knows. We have made two trips to
Tennesee to try and find a death certificate, but haven't had any
luck. We think he and his parents migrated from North Carolina in or
about 1840. His fathers names was Corneilius Cooper. As a young
boy, James T. Cooper was found living with a Family by the name of
Ribidoue. We know he when he moved his family to Utah/Idaho he made
them use the name of Williams. We have a journal Mormon missionary
James Roskelly who talks about James T. Cooper and his good friend
Silas Williams.

I am searching for information regarding My GG-Grandfather, Dillard W.
Rogers, regarding any of his siblings as well as who were his parents
Family tradition is they lived in the, Powell Valley of Tennessee -
believed to be in Claiborne county Tennessee, before moving to Indiana.
Dillard W. Rogers lived in Rockcreek township of Bartholomew county Indiana
somewhere before 1840 and 1870 when he moved to Missouri. We believe he
was born in Powell Valley Tennessee on April 13, 1825. After coming to
Indiana he married Charlotte "Lottie" Elizabeth Christy b. June 27, 1827.
They were married December 17, 1847.
Dillard had a brother, Jesse Rogers, who was born in Tennessee about 1820.
He married Martha Gilleland, October 27, 1842. They were married by Samuel
Stuckey, Justice of the Peace in Bartholomew county. Jesse appears in the
Bartholomew county census records of 1850, 1860 and 1880. It is believed
he was a lawyer. They had two daughters, Nancy Jane and Mary. Nancy Jane
married a man whose last name was Knott.
Dillard's other brother was Sterling Rogers. He also was born in Tennessee
in about 1828. After moving to Bartholomew county Indiana, he married an
Elizabeth,- I do not know her maiden name. They had at least five
children, Mary A., Jenette, George W. , Louisa, and Granville.
I am interested in finding any additional brothers and sisters of the three
Rogers boys. I am particularly interested in finding out who their parents
were.
If you would have any information that has a connection with my Rogers line
I would like to hear from you.

I'm searching for ancestors, family of William Harrison Dooley. He
was born about 1826 in Claiborne Co., TN, so it says on the 1850
census for Lawrence Co., KY. It is believed Harrison was the son of
Thomas Dooley, listed in the 1830, 1840 census of Claiborne Co., TN.
Thomas is believed to have been born about 1792. William left
Claiborne Co. between 1840 and 1850 and moved with a McDowell family
to KY. Harrison listed his profession as teamster on the 1850
census. I have no idea about names for Harrisons siblings. There
are children listed on the 1830/1840 census, but I do not know their
names. I have no wife's name for Thomas. I am stuck. Does any of

Barney. She was married in Sharpe Chapel, widowed in 1844 and lived with
the Sharpe family until her death in 1851. She had a son, Isaac, who was
orphaned and a Sharpe was made his guardian. Does anyone know the

Issac Rosenbalm married Martha Stanifer in 1933. I have been told
Martha tried to kill Issac by putting poision on his biscuit. I would
like to get information on this case. I want to know if Martha was

Looking for information regarding my grandmother, Mazzie EARL. She
was born 12 Apr 1906 Middlesboro, Bell County Ky to Grover C.
(DRUMMONDS) EARL and Arminda "Minnie" BROTHERTON. Mazzie is said to
have lived in New Tazewell, Claiborne County TN in the household of
her grandparents, Andrew "Jack" and Ella (Thompson) DRUMMONDS EARL,
along with her mother and younger sister Vergie. Minnie died in
1919, and there is alot of mystery surrounding what happened to
Mazzie. One story I heard was that Grover put her into some sort of
institution, but kept Vergie with him.
Another story I heard was about a newspaper article discussing how
"Little Vergie EARL" managed to get a hold of the jail keys and
unlocked the door, letting her dad Grover out of jail.
The family all agrees that she disappeared around 1923, and none of
her generation and older would talk about what had happened.
I can find no trace of her until 1929 in Perry County Ky, where she
gave birth to her first child, Charles RICHARDSON. Somewhere be

My great grandmother was Millie Collins and I haven't been able to find her in any census. She was from east TN area of Anderson, Campbell, Clairborne, Hancock, Hawkins , or Union County. She was married to (1) John FIELDS and (2) Lewis BOLDEN/BOLIN/BOWLIN that I know about but can find no records on. I don't have any birth, death or marriage dates on any of the above people. Millie and John FIELDS had the following children; Florence (1879?), Ed (1887?), Bird (1887), Cora (1891), and Milford (1892). Millie divorced John (date unk) and married Lewis BOLDEN (date unk but around 1900). Lewis was evidently an abusive step father. Sometime around 1900, Bird, age 13 at the time, killed Lewis with an axe as he was drunk and beating on her brother Ed. This happened in Hancock or Claiborne County I believe. Haven't found any record of this either. I don't think she was ever charged with any crime. Any help in proving any of this saga of relationships will be deeply appreciated.

I am researching Henry Wilson of Hancock County. His father was named James Wilson, his mother was named Louvina, don't know her maiden name. James Wilson is listed as living in the household with Henry in the 1880 Hancock County Census, and being 50 years old. There is a James listed in the 1850 Claibourne County Census as being 20 years old. I am wondering if this James and my James are one and the same. Any info will be appreciated.

Looking for parents names of Joshua Davis, born 1762 in Baltimore. He moved to Rowan County NC by 1780 and married a Martha Harrison there. He ended up in Claiborne County, Tennessee. He served in the Revolutionary War from North Carolina. He is said to have had a brother named Isaac who married into the McSwain family. He may have been the son of a Uriah Davis of Baltimore or a Solomon Davis. Solomon is a common name in Joshua's descendants for a few generations.
Anyone researching Joshua Davis in Claiborne County? How about his son Alexander? I have more information on them at the URL address below.

I am currently trying to identify a John Myres in the 1830 CL Co. Census. John is between 30-40 as is his wife. He has one son, 5-10 and one son 10-15. He has three young daughters.
The census index shows him, page 145, with surrounding neighbors by the name of Wm Critchfield, Elizabeth Murray, Wm Jackson, Robert Southern, Wm Morrison, Joseph Whiteacre.
John Myres is not to be confused with John Moyer of the Michael Moyer family but may have known or been related to Henry Myers/Mires/Meyers who was married to Catherine Cupp and living in CL Co from approx. 1818 to 186?

I think he may have earlier been in Grainger and still earlier in Greene County.

My surname is LAMB. Looking for Vinny/Vinney Lamb born 1804 probably Claiborne Co. She is in the 1850 census with her 5 children. She is my 3rd great-grandmother.She must have never married,because all her children use her last name Lamb. She had 5 sons and I descend from Benjamin Franklin Lamb born 1820. I am looking for relatives of Rebecca Ellen Patton Ausmus. Rebecca Ellen was born in Brewer Hollow,Sharps Chapel, Tenn in Union County. Her father was MATTHEW MCDANIEL PATTON (1845-1921) and her mother was SARA CLAUSEN (1843-1904). I know that she married LEVIS AUSMUS and lived in Pals Valley in Claiborne County. Her death certificate shows that she was living in Speedwell at the time of her death and is buried in the AUSMUS cemetery. I am anxious to hear from anyone that might have any information on this family.

I am researching for the burial place of my 3rd great-grandfather, Zimri/Zummery Williams, son of Elijah and Catherine Box Williams.
First marriage was to Julia Ann Profit, second marriage to Rachel Parker (b: 1853, Claiborne Co. TN) and they were in Union Co TN 1870 census. On 11 Aug 1887, Zimri married Martha Turner in Claiborne Co.
Anyone with information on Zimri's burial place I would appreciate any help or information you may have and are willing to share with me. I am a descendent of Zimri and Julia Ann Profit.
